Is Your Community Truly ‘Person-Centered’?

Many residential care and memory care communities for older adults say that they work in a ‘person-centered’ way. But how do you measure that? In this time where everything should be evidence based and measured, here’s a tool you can use to evaluate the whole organization.

The Validation Training Institute (VTI) developed a survey that looks at the following areas and created criteria with a rating system.

  • Philosophy of Care
  • Physical environment
  • Documentation/coordination of care
  • Caregiver skills/staffing
  • Resident dignity
  • Activities offered
  • Dining program
  • Engagement of family and friends
  • Safety and control issues

This survey is available to anyone and VTI encourages everyone who works in a residential or memory care community to use it.

If your self-evaluation is positive, contact VTI! We will send a competent Validation Teacher or Master to do an evaluation. We offer a Validation Certificate of Quality you can hang on the wall to show families, visitors, residents and staff that you have integrated Validation principles and values into every aspect of your organization.

Currently there are 10 Validation Certified organizations in Austria, France, Germany, and Italy.

Will you be the first in your region? Take the survey today.
