Block 2:  The Validation View of Aging: The Four Phases (Part 1)

  • It’s interesting to understand Validation because it helps us to explore more and understand more dementia
    behaviours

  • i remember we should never lie to a resident, we should listen to then and ask question and divert them if is something like the wife die but they cant remember we should ask about her how she was, what did they use to go on holiday and just listen to them and see what they missing, and i think is a way for us to know more about them and their life

  • The programe was very educative.l learnt for the first time not to lie or divert a person who is disorientated but try and validate what they are saying which gives them assurance

  • I attended the webinar but was late, due to some emergency situation on the floor, but was called out from the room in the middle of webinar due to another emergency situation.

  • I learnt some techniques for Validation, how to communicate with people who are asking for a passed relative. Asking the person ‘Why do you want to speak with your Mother?’ for example, rather than tell a lie.

  • Amazing training and validation is an important aspect in looking after people living with dementia

  • I found it interesting to learn about how to support people living with dementia and to make them feel valued

  • It’s interesting how Validation sounds so meaningful inhandling people with dementia. Am keen to learn more about it.

  • The zoom was very interesting I learned how to communicate with residents and the way to communicate

  • I learn that validation takes goals but also empathy. And that, also includes diversion.
