In this video, Naomi Feil, founder of the Validation Method, a pioneering approach to empathically entering the world of elderly persons who are living with dementia, is interviewed about her life and work by neurologist, Daniel C. Potts, founder and President of Cognitive Dynamics Foundation.
Over the past 40 years, VTI has created and delivered constantly evolving training programs, published four books in 12 languages, created films and built an international network of partnerships. Validation, once a maverick concept, is comfortably in-synch with contemporary thinking as Feil’s concepts have inspired a generation of ‘person-centered’ eldercare.

The Validation community is sad to lose one of our pioneers. Lita Kohn was the first President of the VTI Board of Trustees. She is remembered fondly for the Board meetings she hosted in her home, accompanied by wonderful hospitality and food. Most important was her desire to create an organization that would perpetuate Validation. She worked hard to keep the Board on track towards that goal. Her leadership made it possible to be where we are today. She was warm and welcoming as new people joined the board. Naomi Feil could not have had a better supporter. May her legacy be a memory forever.
The Validation community is sad to lose one of our pioneers. Dave Nilson helped bring Validation training to the Midwest. Dave was truly a good man, a beloved colleague, and a caring and even-tempered professional in the turbulent world of senior care. He was consistently kind, genuine, and committed to doing good. He was gentle, kind and honest. Dave died on September 29th. There is a simple announcement in the Star Tribune. We have lost a friend and supporter.
