Documents will be available to you on this shared digital space. You can download documents, do homework assignments etc. and then upload your documents to this area. Should you need some help using Google Drive, your instructor will assist you.

Policies:

  • Attendance – at every webinar is mandatory, with video and sound. Should there be a serious problem, contact the course instructor.
  • Pre- and Post- Tests – must be completed
  • Classroom Decorum – during webinars it is polite to mute your sound when you are listening. Try not to talk when others are talking; put up a hand and the teacher can give you the nod. Telephones should be turned off and background noise should be minimized. Test your video and audio before the class starts to make sure we can begin on time.
  • Safety – Within this unique classroom experience, it is especially important that each participant feel safe, respected, and a valued contributor.  Whatever is shared, personal or professional, must be held in confidence.  Each person is expected to apply the Validation attitude toward one another, including “exquisite listening,” just as we would apply those values toward the seniors we serve.

Teaching methods that will be used online

  • Breakout Sessions:

At various moments during the classes, your teacher will create smaller breakout rooms where participants will work either in pairs or small groups, then come back to the Zoom meeting at a designated time.

  • Polls and Chat

Sometimes you’ll be asked questions in a poll, where a question will be written and sent within the Zoom meeting space and you will be asked to give an answer.

Sometimes, you’ll be asked to give your answers in the chat section. The chat button is on the bottom of your Zoom window. Click on it and a bar will open up on the right side of the screen. You can type messages to everyone or to one person, choosing from a dropdown menu.

Before the first meeting:

  • Please read this welcome letter
  • Make sure you know how to join a Zoom meeting
  • Create a folder on your computer for course documents
  • Complete the Pre-survey
