In living rooms across the globe, families are fighting an invisible war.
Today, over 57 million people around the world live with dementia, a number expected to soar to 139 million by 2050. Behind each statistic is a grandmother who no longer recognizes her grandchildren, a husband who forgets his wife’s name, and a mother who becomes frightened by her own reflection.
Dementia, including Alzheimer’s, Vascular, and Lewy body, is a progressive brain disease that unfolds in stages. Early symptoms, such as forgetfulness, often go unnoticed. Over time, mood swings, daily confusion, and sundowning begin to develop. In the final stage, individuals lose speech and mobility and become entirely dependent on care partners.

The emotional toll is staggering. More than 15 million unpaid care partners in the U.S. alone face elevated stress, exhaustion, and serious health risks, yet many lack the training, education, and support they urgently need. Families drain their savings. Children watch their parents disappear before their eyes.
And perhaps most heartbreaking: we’ve had therapeutic approaches and communication methods for decades—but they have often remained locked away in training rooms, costly facilities, or paywalled resources, reachable only by a privileged few.
Memory Lane TV exists to change that. Often called the “Netflix of Memory Care,” it is reshaping dementia care by using multisensory stimulation as a powerful therapeutic intervention—soothing symptoms of the disease while giving overwhelmed care partners a much-needed respite. And today, through a new partnership with the Validation Training Institute (VTI), we are taking a major step forward—and inviting you to help us make these tools free for every family in the world.
When Netflix Meets Neuroscience (and Validation)

Imagine Netflix, but instead of binge-watching, you’re bridge-building—creating pathways back to the people you love.
Unlike traditional television, which is made for everyone, Memory Lane TV (MLTV) is designed specifically for people living with dementia and their care partners, delivering narrative-free sensory experiences and practical tools for daily care:
- 1,200+ sensory films with no plot, across 14 curated collections
- Personalized by culture, language, and memory triggers
- Includes aromatherapy and multisensory support
- A free Care Partner Channel with 250+ expert resources—now including content from the Validation Training Institute (VTI)
- Available 24/7, on any screen, anywhere

Backed by decades of mind-body and dementia research, MLTV has been developed with neurologists, researchers, and families. It uses personalized sensory experiences—like virtual walks through the past or cooking shows that spark muscle memory—to preserve identity and calm the nervous system. These multisensory tools can reduce agitation, support mood, and reignite memory, connection, and communication.

Mary, who had been silent for weeks, begins humming wartime melodies. A father with advanced Alzheimer’s calms instantly while watching tailored nature scenes. A night-shift nurse witnesses residents sleeping peacefully rather than wandering anxiously.
These aren’t just feel-good stories. This is evidence-based care delivered through a screen.
From a Childhood in a Care Home to a Global Movement: The Validation Training Institute (VTI)
Our new partnership builds on the life work of one of dementia care’s true pioneers: Naomi Feil, founder of the Validation Training Institute (VTI).
As a 4-year-old refugee from Nazi Germany, Naomi grew up in the Montefiore Home for the Aged in Cleveland, Ohio, where her father was the administrator and her mother headed the Social Service Department. The older adults in the home were her neighbors and friends. This intimate, daily contact gave Naomi an extraordinary empathy and deep understanding of the emotional world of disoriented older adults.

From this lived experience, she developed Validation, a method of communicating with and supporting older adults living with cognitive decline by entering their reality with respect, empathy, and dignity—rather than correcting, dismissing, or ignoring them.
In 1982, with the help of a few dedicated supporters, Naomi created the Validation Training Institute to spread this approach worldwide. Over the past four decades, VTI has:
- Created and delivered evolving training programs around the globe
- Published four books in 12 languages
- Produced training films and learning resources
- Built an international network of certified practitioners and trainers
What began as a “maverick” idea is now recognized as a cornerstone of person-centered dementia care. Naomi Feil’s concepts have inspired a generation of caregivers, professionals, and organizations to see disoriented elders not as “problems to manage,” but as people still deserving of connection, validation, and respect.
A New Bridge: Memory Lane TV × VTI on the Free Care Partner Channel
Today, we are honored to announce a formal partnership between Memory Lane TV and the Validation Training Institute.

Through this collaboration:
- VTI’s educational content and practical tools are now available in the free Care Partner Channel on Memory Lane TV.
- Care partners—family members, aides, volunteers, professionals—can access guidance grounded in decades of Validation practice without paying a fee.
- Video modules, tips, and demonstrations help care partners learn how to:
- Step into the reality of the person with dementia
- Respond to strong emotions with empathy instead of correction
- Transform “difficult behaviors” into meaningful communication
The goal is simple and radical:
To combine evidence-based sensory stimulation (MLTV) with evidence-based communication (VTI) so that every interaction—watching a film, sharing a moment, managing a difficult day—can become an opportunity for connection instead of conflict.
Right now, thanks to early donors and partners, we are able to keep this Care Partner Channel free and open. But if we want the entire Memory Lane TV platform—including sensory films, multisensory supports, and care partner education—to be free for families and care settings everywhere, we need help.
The Dream That Keeps Us Awake
Every day, our team receives messages from families in urgent need:
- A daughter in rural Kansas who can’t afford the subscription to soothe her mother’s severe sundowning.
- A son in Mumbai who wants to support his father but finds the platform unavailable in his region.
- A memory care facility in Detroit, serving mostly low-income residents, that sees the potential but lacks the budget to provide access to all.

At the same time, we hear from overwhelmed care partners desperate for guidance—people who would benefit profoundly from the wisdom of Naomi Feil and VTI, but who cannot attend workshops, pay for trainings, or travel to conferences.
What if geography, language, or income were no longer barriers to dignity?
What if any care partner, anywhere in the world, could press “play” and access calming sensory films and world-class practical guidance from VTI, all in one place, all for free?
That is exactly what our current fundraising campaign is designed to achieve.
The Bold Vision: Remove the Paywall, Not the Person
Memory Lane TV is now embarking on a global fundraising effort to:
- Remove all subscription fees for families and low-resource care settings
- Expand access to MLTV in multiple languages and cultures
- Scale the free Care Partner Channel, including VTI’s Validation content, so that every caregiver can be trained and supported
- Invest in research and AI-driven personalization (in partnership with Brown University) so the intervention can adapt in real time to mood, time of day, and changing needs
Backed by over a decade of research, 40+ partner organizations, 12 distribution networks, 8 awards, and now a strategic partnership with the Validation Training Institute, Memory Lane TV has built the technology and alliances needed to deliver five decades of multisensory and communication science at scale.

What stands between this vision and reality is not the science. It’s not the technology.
It’s simply funding. Make a tax Free Donation to the Memory Lane TV Foundation.
